 PHUKET: The 2010 Rotary Club of Patong Beach Fun & Charity 18-Hole Golf Tournament will take place 29 August. It is a 4-player team "Scramble". The golfing fee is 3,500 baht, with the LPGC member discounted rate, including dinner. You can attend only the dinner with your family, which will have live music, an auction and great food. The cost is 600 baht per person, children under 7 years free. All profits go to the Home & Life Phang Nga Family Care foundation to provide a safe and caring home for children to grow, learn, and feel the security of a family to develop into successful and caring adults. |

CBB donates old linen to the gypsies |

On Sunday the 25th of July Club Bamboo Boutique resort and spa donated old linen and textile to the inhabitants of the gypsy village in Thalong Phuket. The community belongs to the poorest part of the population of Phuket. In 2004 the tsunami hit the gypsy village dramatically.We donated the following:
- 86 pillows
- 5 hand towels
- 142 bath towels
- 41 uniform shirts for women
- 26 uniform shirts for men
- 19 uniform trousers
- 44 uniform skirts
- 177 bed sheets
- 4 carpets
- 7 sets of shoes
The inhabitants of the gypsy village were very happy. Club Bamboo Boutique resort and spa is very pleased to have been able to make life a bit more comfortable for these people. |

PHUKET: Thirty Miss Thailand World 2010 contestants are at the Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket as part of a four-day “training camp” to prepare for the pageant, which will be televised live from Bangkok on the night of August 14.
Apart from learning everything they will need to know to succeed in the beauty competition, the contestants will also do some charity painting work at the Baan Laem Sai School. |

PHUKET: Occurs one day after the full-moon day of the eighth lunar month (Asarnha Bucha). Khao Pansa marks the beginning of the annual three-month Rains Retreat during which Buddhist monks customarily stay at a particular temple to study and meditate. The monks are not allowed to stay overnight at any other location during this period.A candle festival is held annually on this day. Sculpted beeswax candles, generally depicting mythological creatures, are carried in a ceremonial parade in each province before being presented to local temples. |

On June 13, The Laguna Phuket International Marathon will celebrate its 5th year and has become the largest and fast growing destination marathon in South East Asia.
A series of events will kick-off on Friday starting with a two-day expo featuring sponsor booths and a number of activities. Race day on Sunday will comprise a 42k Marathon, a 21k Half-marathon, a 10.5k Run, a 2k Kids Run and a 5k Walk.
The 42k Marathon’s scenic course will start and end within Laguna Phuket, passing through tropical rainforests, rubber plantations and local villages, heading north towards Nai Yang beach before turning back to Laguna Phuket.

The first paragliding competition in Phuket, will be held May 21‐23 at Naiharn Beach. More than 30 pilots have been registered, and more than 150 flights will take place from 8am to 6pm during the 3 days of the event.
Already about 40 participants from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Switzerland, Austria and France have expressed interest in joining the event.
